How can we use virtual reality in rehabilitation? What is gamification in healthcare? And how does Thailand fit into the development of HealthTech?

At the Techsauce Global Summit in Bangkok, Danish and Nordic companies showcased innovative solutions within technology in healthcare to a mature Thai market. The Health Tech stage at the summit offered an interesting full-day programme organised and co-curated by CEO and Executive Adviser of RUFF & Co. Business Innovation, Susie A. Ruff (Denmark) and CEO of Chiiwii LIVE Dr. Sakunee Niranvichaiya (Thailand) who throughout the day invited various panellists to join the debate of health innovation and the use of technology in health.

Regional Director Claus Nielsen of the Danish company OpenTeleHealth presented ideas of treating elderly or bedridden patients and chronic diseases patients in rural areas by using new technology on e-health - remote patient monitoring system in order to save time and overcome the difficulties in reaching the hospitals, and shared experiences as a Danish health company working together with the hospital in Thailand.

Another Danish panellist, CEO of Lykke Studios Jakob Lykkegaard spoke of the start-up opportunities in Thailand within the field of technology. Having built several companies from scratch here in Thailand, he spoke of the Thai market’s readiness and possibilities of cooperation with Thai stakeholders.

One conclusion of the debates was that Thailand and the region is, indeed, mature for implementing health tech as the country is quickly adapting to the technological development. There is still some way to go, but this only leaves room for more creative solutions and further collaboration between the Nordics and South East Asia regarding technology and healthcare.
