The 65th Cannes Film Festival completed this weekend with great Danish success. The Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen was awarded as “best actor” for his role in the Danish filmmaker, Thomas Vinterberg’s movie “The Hunt” (Jagten). The film situates around Lucas (played by Mads Mikkelsen) who is wrongly accused of sexually assaulting a young girl, which makes the local community start a man-hunt (Trailer)
Furthermore the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) held their annual Television Awards this weekend. The Danish television series “Borgen”, which has been broadcasted on the British TV-channel BBC, won a BAFTA television award in the international category.
In the spirit of Danish film success, the Embassy kindly reminds you that the EU Film Festival 2012 opens tonight, which will be marked with the screening of the Danish Academy Award winning movie “In a Better World” (Hævnen). The EU Film Festival is open to the public from May 31 - June 10, where 23 films from 17 different EU countries will be presented for free at the Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre.
