The commercial section at the Royal Danish Embassy in Bangkok is part of the Trade Council, which is an independent organization below the ministry of foreign affairs.
The commercial section of the embassy is functionally wise a part of the Trade Council.
The Trade Council is a separate organization within the Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The objective of the Trade Council is to make a solid contribution to the financial growth and development of the Danish society. This is done by assisting Danish companies to generate additional turnover, income and thereby need for more employees.
To achieve this the Trade Council assists Danish companies to increase their export, establish sales offices abroad to be closer to their foreign customers, sourcing semi-finished products, or establishing production overseas to utilize lower production costs to be more competitive on the world markets.
The objective of the Trade Council is to contribute to the financial growth and development of the Danish society. This is done through assisting Danish companies in generating additional turnover, profits, and thereby an increased need for employees. The assistance is focused on increasing the exports of Danish goods, the establishment of sales offices in foreign countries, locating suppliers of semi-finished products, as well as the formation of Danish production facilities abroad. The above listed initiatives are enacted with the purpose of increasing the global competitiveness of Danish companies and their products.
The Royal Danish Embassy in Bangkok is residing in a teak wood house in the heart of the commercial district, Sathorn. The embassy is located on a quite side street, which provides a tranquil experience when entering the compound.
Since January 2011 Ambassador Mikael Hemniti Winther has headed the embassy.
Approximately 30 people are employed at the embassy. 10 of these are Danish citizens, covering the political, consular, cultural, development and commercial affairs, whereas the remaining staff is local.
The embassy in Bangkok also covers Cambodia and Myanmar (Burma).
