Going to Denmark

N.B. The Embassy processing time is normally 15 days; however, peak season is currently causing a greatly increased number of visa applications. Although, we are doing everything in our power to meet the 15-day deadline, please be aware that longer processing time can be expected for applications with a traveling date longer than approximately 20 days.
Processing time shorter than 15 days is not realistic and urgent processing is a ground rule not be expected.

In order to travel to Denmark, Thai citizens need a Schengen visa or a valid residence and work permit. A visa or residence and work permit must be obtained before departure from Thailand.

In order to fully understand the regulations and requirements involved in your application we strongly recommend that you read all the information on these pages.

The Member State competent for examining and deciding on an application for a visa shall be:

    a. the Member State whose territory constitutes the sole destination of the visit(s);

    b. if the visit includes more than one destination, the Member State whose territory constitutes the main destination of the visit(s) in terms of the length or purpose of stay; or

    c. if no main destination can be determined, the Member State whose external border the applicant intends to cross in order to enter the territory of the Member States.

Please note that the Embassy in Bangkok also handles visa applications to Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

The Embassy has commissioned VFS Global Private Ltd. to operate the Danish Visa Application Centre in Bangkok.

VFS is situated in Trendy Building on 8th floor. Please see here for further information.

Attention: Please be aware of false visa agents

Unfortunately there are also a number of false visa agents – especially in the lobby.

These visa agents approach applicants and offer to help them with their applications. Very often they demand huge sums of money for their assistance. And very often they give wrong information.

VFS has a counter in the lobby. If in doubt about anything please ask here. Otherwise please go directly to VFS on 8th floor.

It is possible to submit your application or pick up your passport at the Embassy by appointment only. A maximum of 2 weeks waiting time for an appointment should be expected.

If you plan to stay longer than 90 days in Denmark, you need to apply for a residence and/or work permit.
