Ambassador Winther meets Thailand Minister of Commerce

The Ambassador on Tuesday March 22, met H.E. Apiradi Tantraporn, Minister of Commerce of Thailand to discuss collaboration opportunities between Denmark and Thailand, framework conditions for Danish investors and input to the long term development of the business climate and regulations in Thailand. The Minister, who is a former Ambassador of Thailand to the WTO as well as Director General and Deputy Minister of Commerce, therefore has a long experience and deep understanding of the international framework for trade. The Ambassador and theMinister discussed how Thailand in many ways could be inspired by the Danish model, when it comes to transparency in tenders following international standards, digitalization of public approval systems, focus on energy efficiency and green energy, as well as the importance of a well-functioning infrastructure and legal framework to support business investments and growth. 

The Ambassador met with the Minister of Commerce Apiradi Tantraporn, Permanent Secretary Chutima Bunyapraphasara, Deputy Director – General, Department of International Trade Promotion Somdet Susomboon and Deputy Director – General, Department of Trade Negotiations Siripan Likhitwiwat. Joining the Ambassador for the meeting was Commercial Counsellor Asbjørn Christiansen, Commercial Officer Phannaporn Churuphant as well as Danish company representatives.
