How to apply for a visa
Denmark is a member of the Schengen-cooperation. A visa issued by a Danish representation will usually be valid for all Schengen countries.
Denmark represents Iceland for visa applications in Thailand.
Please be aware that the Danish embassy in Bangkok also handles visa case processing for visa applications from Cambodia, Vietnam,
New Zealand, Fiji and Australia. However, for inquiries please refer to the VFS centre where you handed in your application.
How to apply for a visa to Denmark
We have summarized the steps below on how to apply for a VISA to Denmark.
- Apply online and submit payment: Visit ApplyVISA to fill in your application online and pay the visa fee. Make sure you print both your receipt for payment as well as your cover letter / application.
- Prepare documentation: Find the relevant checklist that applies to your type of application and prepare the necessary documentation, which you will later submit to VFS Global. The checklists can be found below. Also found on this page here.
- Book an appointment at VFS in Bangkok: This can be done on their website here. VFS Bangkok opening hours are 08:00 to 14:30 Monday to Friday.
- Hand in documents: On the day of your appointment, show up at the VFS centre and hand in the required documents and your passport. You can find more details on the VFS service fee and location here.
After your application has been handed in at VFS, it will be sent to the embassy for case processing. The embassy may call you for an interview. The processing time of your visa application depends on the current average processing time at the embassy. The current average processing time is updated weekly and is found on the front page here.
Please note that you can apply as early as 6 months prior to your departure date.
Where to apply for a visa to Denmark
The Danish Embassy in Bangkok has commissioned VFS Global Private Ltd. to operate the Danish Visa Application Centre in Bangkok. VFS will receive the applications and forward the applications for case processing at the embassy. Once a decision has been made, the embassy will return the application to VFS who will then contact the applicant.
Please note that an additional service fee will be charged by VFS when submitting visa applications at the Visa Application Center.

Processing times
The embassy strives to process all applications within 15 days.
A small percentage of applications are submitted for decision at the Danish Immigration Services (DIS) in Copenhagen. For these cases, the processing time is up to 45 days.
The case processing time is calculated from the day when the diplomatic mission assess that the application can be processed and the application is registered in the visa system. It is not calculated from the time you apply online or submit the application at VFS.
